Fujitsu Releases New Version of CGI Studio with OpenGL ES 3.0 Support

Fujitsus CGI Studio 3.0 with OpenGL ES 3.0 support, enabling advanced HMI design for automotive applications.

Linz, Austria, July 30, 2014 – Fujitsu Semiconductor Embedded Solutions Austria (FEAT) today released CGI Studio 3.0, the latest version of its CGI Studio tool suite. CGI Studio is used for in-vehicle infotainment and cluster-based dashboard systems throughout the automotive industry. In its latest iteration, the CGI Studio tool chain now supports OpenGL ES 3.0, thereby enabling cutting-edge in-vehicle human machine interface (HMI) applications.

Enabling state-of-the-art HMI for embedded systems
OpenGL ES 3.0 is now the de facto standard for the development of highly sophisticated embedded HMI applications. Leveraging the computing power of embedded chipsets from both today and tomorrow, CGI Studio enables high-performance 2D/3D applications such as navigation, vehicle status visualisation or task menu structuring, while focusing on essential automotive application features such as boot-up time and a small footprint. Furthermore CGI Studio also complies with automotive standards and regulations.

New graphical features such as KTX image formats, ETC2 and EAC texture compression, seamless cube maps and many others enhance CGI Studio“s already impressive list of features, allowing customers to maximise their creativity with even fewer resources. Additional convenience features such as a shareable component library (SCL), EGL context sharing and improved scene templates round up the package for the end user, making CGI Studio 3.0 one of the most extensive and user-friendly authoring suites on the automotive market.

To get an idea of the potential of CGI Studio“s new features, take a look at our demo video (YouTube).

About CGI Studio

CGI Studio is Fujitsu“s software development platform for the creation of hybrid 2D and 3D graphical interfaces (HMIs/GUIs) in the automotive field. Supplementing the „Candera 2D“ engine and the „Candera 3D“ engine, Fujitsu provides a continuous tool chain for 2D/3D composition and authoring, performance measurement and improvement, state machine integration/testing and functional safety to ASIL standards, as well as a fully-fledged 2D/3D rendering engine. CGI Studio is designed to boost system performance even when faced with hardware resource and cost constraints: these are a particular feature of embedded systems and more stringent than those placed on PCs or tablets.
