Meet SKIDATA at the career events in autumn

Career events are a great opportunity for young professionals and people re-entering the workforce to meet and talk to potential employers. Ultimately, there is more to every applicant and every company than meets the eye. For this reason, SKIDATA travels through Austria to give graduates and high potentials a closer look at the company.

It doesn“t do anyone justice to look at a person or a company only on paper. A real meeting is often much more telling than a job application or brochure. Career fairs are therefore an excellent opportunity for both sides that can open doors and make decisions easier. SKIDATA is again proud to participate in numerous job fairs and career events in Austria in the fall of 2017 to meet enthusiastic recruits and share information about careers at SKIDATA.

SKIDATA boasts a wide range of departments including finance, sales and communications. At the same time, the global leader in access and visitor management also has many career opportunities in IT and technology. No matter if you are in software or hardware development, mechatronics, electronics, accounting or controlling – SKIDATA offers exciting possibilities with international perspectives in every area. Thanks to continued growth, SKIDATA hires new employees in Austria and around the globe every year.
„At career events, we seize the opportunity to network and introduce our company and work at SKIDATA. Our corporate culture is best conveyed through personal discussions,“ says Barbara, recruiting specialist at SKIDATA. „After all, it has to work for both sides, ideally for a long time.“

SKIDATA career events in fall 2017

Tulips from Amsterdam for the SKIDATA staff – a successful trade fair and new contracts in The Netherlands

Tulips from Amsterdam for the SKIDATA staff - a successful trade fair and new contracts in The Netherlands

Tulips from Amsterdam for the SKIDATA staff

The Salzburg company SKIDATA racked up a double success in Amsterdam: the first reason to celebrate is the awarding of contracts to equip numerous parking garages in Amsterdam. The Dutch capital will soon have a total of 22 parking garages equipped with SKIDATA access solutions. Paramount is the integration of the newest technology in parking management such as license plate recognition or payment via cell phone or QR/print@home tickets. The second reason is a successful trade fair appearance at this year’s Intertraffic, the leading trade fair for traffic and transportation technology which takes place every other year in Amsterdam. SKIDATA, the innovative leader in access solutions, was among the 800 exhibitors – and this is not the only trade show our staff will attend this year!

Staff regularly acts as SKIDATA ambassadors at trade fairs and career events

No one is better qualified to act as a representative than the employees who work with SKIDATA products and services each and every day. For this reason it is not only staff from sales and marketing, but also project managers, for example, who have the opportunity to represent SKIDATA at trade fairs. First-hand information is also extremely valuable when it comes to careers. Graduates and students learned about career opportunities at this Salzburg-based company from SKIDATA staff themselves at numerous career fairs in April (including the IKoRo 2016 and Teconomy in Graz). „First-hand accounts are of course the most exciting kind for visitors to the SKIDATA booth. Our colleagues explain their own career path and give an insider’s view of the opportunities at SKIDATA,“ explains Sophie Fürst from our Human Resources department.

Newcomers wanted! SKIDATA is seeking international recruits

Working in international teams is a matter of course at a global company such as SKIDATA. People entering or re-entering the workforce and high-achievers from the areas of software, service technology and IT especially appreciate the open, international work environment and familiar company culture at SKIDATA, headquartered in Grödig just outside Salzburg, Austria.

Personal contact and lots of information about careers at SKIDATA

Career fairs are an excellent chance to get to know potential employers and make your first contacts. At numerous career events, SKIDATA takes the opportunity to meet high school and university students and graduates and introduce them to the possibilities of a career at SKIDATA; for example as a software developer or hardware developer. Colleagues from different departments talk about their experiences right at the booth. Presentations as part of the career fair lend additional insight into the company, the work environment and company culture, as well as the multi-faceted and exciting fields of work. At SKIDATA, young people especially value the opportunity to take over responsibility right away and to make a difference, as well as the personal, open environment.

Taking a peek behind the scenes: students visit SKIDATA

SKIDATA regularly invites school classes or courses to take a closer look at everyday work life at a leading company for access solutions, introducing them to specific career opportunities. Last year students from Innovation and Management in Tourism studies at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences were just one group to visit SKIDATA´s headquarters in Grödig near Salzburg as part of an excursion. Here they learned more about the process of innovation at SKIDATA. The next student visit is just around the corner: on February 25 students from the Mittelschule Grödig will be visiting SKIDATA and will have the opportunity to get a closer look at the various skilled trades at our company. The students´ passion for technology should also be sparked.

Women and Technology - a Winning Combination at SKIDATA

Women and Technology – a Winning Combination at SKIDATA

At SKIDATA, an international market leader for access solutions and management, women have the best conditions for careers in the technical field. Stefanie and Sarah are perfect examples of how easy it is for women to move up in their career at SKIDATA. Steffi first completed an apprenticeship in communication technology from 2005 to 2008. Afterwards, she was hired as a second-level support engineer in International Service and Parking Management and after successfully passing her university entrance exams, has studied at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences since the fall of 2012. Sarah began her career at SKIDATA in Grödig near Salzburg with training to become an IT technician in informatics and now mainly takes care of web development in the IT infrastructure department.

Glass Ceiling? Not at SKIDATA: Sabrina and Angelica Explain

Information technicians Sabrina and Angelica agree: there is no macho atmosphere at SKIDATA – it is actually quite the opposite! Both women feel very comfortable at SKIDATA, appreciate the working climate, their various tasks and responsibilities and enjoy taking on the new challenges they face. The IT specialists recently visited workshops regarding cloud computing and human-computer interaction as part of the Dictat Women“s IT Studies in Salzburg. Now they are looking forward to putting their newly acquired knowledge to use in their daily work in software and hardware development. Sabrina and Angelica wish that more young women would take the opportunity to work in IT and choose training or studies in technology.

Cutting lectures officially for the career

20,000 young academics meet in Berlin

Cutting lectures officially for the career

From April 23 to 25, 2013 thousands of students from all over Germany come to connecticum in Berlin to exchange views with decision makers and human resource managers of all potential employers about latest and future career options.

That is why many of the students cut their lectures – officially. All fair visitors receive a connecticum certificate of attendance to excuse their absence in university. The certificate of attendance will be dispatched after the fair; it is an official document and according to our experiences it is accepted by all professors and lecturers. After all, students use their time at connecticum productively: they further their career prospects, enhance their knowledge and come back with new issues for consideration to share with their fellow students. Participation in connecticum 2013 therefore is within the meaning of most universities.

connecticum is one of the world’s major career and recruitment fairs and takes place in the hangars of the former Airport Berlin-Tempelhof. The entrance is free!

More than 350 renowned employers from all over Germany, Europe and Asia inform about their requirement profiles, company philosophies and their offers for internships, theses, trainee programs and direct entry at fair booths, company presentations and one-on-one interviews. More than 20,000 students of all semesters, graduates and young professionals from Germany and abroad are expected again.

Discovering more than 350 companies within only three days and clarifing important questions in a direct conversation with company representatives in casual relaxed atmosphere – if that’s not reason enough to miss a lecture?

Deutsche Bahn will offer discounted tickets from all over Germany to connecticum and Berlin hostels offer stays starting from 10 EUR.
