Enhanced Flexibility for Service Technicians: tde"s New MPO Patch Cords Allow for Easy and Fast Gender and Polarity Switching

Dortmund, 22th November 2017. Effective immediately, tde is now offering clients MPO patch cords equipped with the new MTP Pro Connectors manufactured by US Conec. This product“s special feature is its capability to perform quick and easy gender and polarity switches, while maintaining the high performance level of the connector. Thanks to the new MTP Pro patch cord it is possible for service technicians to work more flexibly in regards to cabling infrastructure. Also, the service technician need not carry all connector varieties with him on-site. Even infrastructures with a 40/100 G connection can be configured more versatilely on site using the pre-existing cabling and the right patch cord. tde ships the new MTP Pro patch cord with a cable construction which the company is well known for. It protects the loose tube with a sturdy internal tube. The MTP Pro patch cords are now available in the configurations 12-Fibre and 24-Fibre MPO as single mode in OS2 as well as in multimode with the fibre types OM3 and OM4.

The portfolio of the network specialist tde – trans data elektronik GmbH now includes MPO patch cords equipped with the new MTP Pro Connectors manufactured by US Conec. These connectors can be converted from male to female without any prior experience and only with a specialist tool. With the use of the specialist tool, changing polarity from Type A to Type B or vice-versa is quickly achieved. This means maximum flexibility for service technicians. It enables them to react to any kind of cabling infrastructure. Even when technicians often install or remove MTP Pro guide pins, it does not negatively impact the performance of the connectors – another unique characteristic.

Ideal as measurement cable or for 40/100G connections

Patch cords with the new MTP Pro Connectors are especially suited for the use as measurement cable: Service technicians no longer need a variety of cables on hand while on site and are still prepared for any cabling infrastructure. The patch cords also reveal their advantages in context of 40/100 G connections: They can be flexibly configured with the already existing cabling on site.

tde offers the new MTP Pro patch cords equipped with the proven cable construction the company is well known for: It utilises a sturdy inner tube to give optimal protection to the loose tube.

The MTP Pro patch cords are now available in the configurations 12-Fibre and 24-Fibre MPO as single mode in OS2 or as multi mode in the fibre types OM3 and OM4.

Laser World of Photonics 2017: CeramOptec showcases glass fibers for industrial, medical and laboratory applications

Bonn, 16/05/2017 – CeramOptec, a company specialising in multi-mode optical fibers made of quartz glass, will be presenting glass fibers and fiber bundles for industrial, medical and laboratory applications at the Laser World of Photonics (26 to 29 June 2017 in Munich). They will be focusing on fiber-optic component solutions with special suitability for spectroscopic and surface-processing processes.

The main attractions will be the solarisation-resistant Optran® UV NSS fibers for long-term applications in the deep UV range, as well as the low-loss Optran® UVWFS broadband fibers for applications in the spectrum from UV-C to IR-B. Other products that will be showcased at the trade fair are the Optran® NCC UV/WF fibers with a non-circular core geometry to homogenise intensity distribution and the end-fused PowerLightGuide fiber bundles. These are designed for wide-area applications, with their main features for attraction being their excellent transmission and high temperature resistance. CeramOptec will also present numerous other Optran® fibers as well as classic fiber bundles.

Visitors can experience the Optran® fibers as a true-to-scale 30 cm model at the entirely redesigned CeramOptec stand. There will be a demonstrator that can be used to check the surfaces generated by the different fibers. A wall projection is also used to show the light output of a colour-assorted PowerLightGuide fiber bundle.

tde"s cabling system tSML: Reduced to the maximum

Dortmund, 19. September 2013. tde – trans data elektronik GmbH, leading manufacturer of scalable cabling systems and pioneer in the field of fiber optical multi-fiber technology, extends the semi-modular plug-and-play cabling system tSML with new products. The 19″ modules are now available on a half rack unit and taper in the middle so that they clearly divide the patch cables leading half of them to the left and the other half to the right. The tSML is tailored to the needs of those users who are looking for port types for half rack units with an excellent price performance ratio due to reduced modularity.

The tSML is a semi-modular plug-and-play cabling system, which is now expanded by new products. tde presents 19″ modules on a half rack unit, which taper in the middle. The angular construction offers the advantage of obliging the user to divide the patch cables and cleanly lead half of them to the left and the other half to the right. This supports the bending radii and minimizes the risk of exceeding them. Furthermore the angular design reduces additional height units for patch cable management panels.

Smart design for high packing density
The smart design provides a high packing density on a half rack unit. In total, the new tSML module with its diagonal construction can run 48 LC-duplex Ports (96 fibers), 24 MPO/MTP ports (576 fibers) or 24 RJ45 ports on a half-hight unit. „Our tSML cabling system is worldwide unbeatable in terms of packing density,“ said André Angel, CEO of tde – trans data elektronik GmbH.

The tSML cabling system includes only modules and trunk cables. Due to the special connection system the tSML TP trunk cable can be preconfigured with termination blocks on merely one side. In this way, preterminated cables can be easily directed through fireproof bulkheads and mesh cable trays. After installing the cables the termination blocks are simply plugged on to the 6fold module. No further link measurements are subsequently required.

Simple installation and high-quality connection technology
The factory preconfigured and tested system components of the tSML can be easily installed by a plug-and-play method. The twisted-pair hosts tBL-6fold RJ45 modules can be mounted very easily thanks to SnapIn. The TP-panel can also be used as a modular fiber optic breakout panel. The front panels are only equipped with fiber-optic couplings to connect the preconfigured trunks with the respective connectors on the back. „The possibility of combining fiber optic and TP in a single rack unit makes our angular version of tSML a unique cabling system. Also the modularity of the TP panel, which simplifies the installation due to the SnapIN mechanism, is very special“, says André Engel. Thus, not only LC, SC duplex and RJ45 ports can be integrated, also the plugs E2000 Compact, MPO/MTP, MU, MT-RJ and ST are possible with the tSML system.

More tde cabling systems at a glance

The classic – tBL – tde Basic Link
The tBL – tde Basic Link system was developed for traditional network cabling and contains fiber optic components as well as TP components. These products aren“t preterminated and have to be integrated in the conventional way by the installer. These are optimized products with high functionality and easy handling during the installation. The program includes TP RJ45 patch panels, junction boxes, splice and breakout boxes for 19″-, wall- and DIN rail mounting. The products are characterized by a high packing density and an optimal fiber as well as cable management so that the tolerated bending radii cannot be exceeded. Furthermore there are no sharp corners or edges, which can damage the pigtails and buffer tubes. The front panels or rather patch panels are generally exchangeable. There are versions for all current connector types. These products can be purchased with or without assembly. In addition, there are also special versions with IP66 for outdoor and offshore applications.

The flexible – tML® – tde Modular Link System
tML® is a patented modular cable system that comprises three core components: Modules, trunk cable and rack mount enclosure. All system components are prepared and tested in the factory before going out to data centers, where they are predominantly installed. The plug & play installation ensures that systems can be up and running in the shortest amount of time. There are fiber optic and twisted-pair modules, which can be used together in a single rack mount enclosure achieving a very high port density. The heart of the system is formed by the rear-mounted MTP®/MPO and telco connectors, which enable the connection of at least 6 ports at once using 10 GbE or GbE performance. At 40/100 GbE, the modules are replaced by front panels with MPO adapters. Using 48 MPO-connectors, 1152 fibres can be implemented in a single rack unit.
