Functionality:

The employee places the vegetable crates on the conveyor belt and these drive under the conveyor belt under water into the air-fed bubble bath. The water circulation in the bubble bath washes the earth out between the plant leaves. When the transport crates have crossed the bubble bath with the vegetables, the plants are subsequently rinsed with fresh water.

Depending on the degree of contamination of the vegetables and depending on the type of vegetables, the speed of the conveyor belt is variably adjustable. The user can therefore respond to different levels of pollution and plant species and then adapt the machine. The side channel blower always blows with full pressure into the plunge pool, so that the strongest turbulence of the water takes place and a quick and effective cleaning of the plants takes place per unit of time. With the illustrated machine, up to 400 vegetable transport boxes can be washed per hour.

How does the saladsink work exactly?

The entire processing section in the machine is provided with a conveyor belt. The conveyor belt picks up the salad boxes and conveys them into a plunge pool, bringing the boxes under water into a sink. Due to the length of the pelvis and the transport speed of the conveyor belt, the length of stay of the vegetable crates under water is longer or shorter. The transport speed of the conveyor belt can be influenced by the operator. The operator can therefore respond to different levels of pollution and different plant species. Having arrived in the plunge pool, the decisive washing process is now carried out. A side channel blower pushes air through a pipe system and various outlets into the water of the dip tank. The rising bubbles set the water in motion, similar to when it boils. The bubbling water washes on the salad adhering soil or other pollution. This process continues as long as the salad box is in the dip tank. At the end of the dip tank, the conveyor belt carries the salad boxes back up over the water surface. There, the salad is again sprayed with fresh water. The employee removes the cleaned salad with the transport crates from the conveyor belt.

Side channel blowers are also used in industry for the transport and compression of noble gases. As long as gases are not flammable or explosive, side channel blowers can be used well for compression or extraction. Especially when higher pressures have to be overcome.

For the exemplary operating point of a volume of approx. 100 m³ / hour at approx. +600 mbar, SKVTechnik recommends a side channel blower K07 RMD 5.5kW with TMS impregnation and sealing. Possible accessories for side channel blowers in printing operation

For the long-term and reliable operation of side channel blowers, clean intake air that has been removed from solids is an important prerequisite. Side channel blowers of SKVTechnik are long-running and suitable for continuous operation. Side channel blowers have a number of accessories. Side channel blowers of SKVTechnik have to be protected against total failure for various reasons. For one, financial reasons play a role, of course.
Another important point is that side channel blowers are usually in operation as endurance runners. They perform their work in many plants without the need for daily control. Often, the sub-processes in which side channel blowers are used are system-critical. This means that the failure of a side channel blower can lead to system stop. Production failure and downtime of the plant threaten.
What few users know is that side channel blowers do not have their own shutdown device for an emergency situation. Few devices have a shutdown device in case of overheating. Especially if side channel blowers work against a closed throttle, then the total loss of the device threatens. If side channel blowers work against a closed flap and can not deliver air, the pressure rises above the maximum pressure values indicated in the curves and the machine will inevitably break down. Users then find faulty electric motors and deformed rotors on the defective machines. In most cases, parts of the machine housing are discolored blue or dark due to overheating and the blades of the rotors inside the machines are bent due to excessive pressure conditions.

The safety valve (limiting valve F) described here by SKVTechnik can be used both as a pressure limiting valve and for operation as a vacuum limiting valve. It is delivered not parameterized in the factory and must therefore be set by the customer before use.

Why is it important to use a limit valve?
Side channel blowers are valuable devices that usually run in continuous operation and unattended. If the suction or pressure channel is closed, then the side channel blower motors continue to work and build up enormous pressure. The force can not be carried away with the air and the rotor presses more and more against the compression. The rotor blades twist. If necessary, the device heats up so much during this process that the winding insulation of the motor melts and a short circuit occurs. The machine suffers a total loss with a damage amount exceeding the replacement cost.

How does a limit valve work?
If they are correctly adjusted, the SKV limit valves act as a safeguard against excessive pressure. If the predefined pressure builds up in the machine and is exceeded, then limit valves open the airflow and the machine can release excess pressure from the system. The machine can continue to work and will not break. It is important that the operating point of the limit valve is correctly set to the respective machine.

How to adjust the limit valves of the SKVTechnik?
The limiting valve of the SKVTechnik is individually applicable to the different side channel compressors in the range from 0,2KW to 25 kW. For this purpose, the valve is supplied with two springs of different strengths. Each spring is designed for a specific pressure-vacuum power range. Valves VRL8 and VRL9 have the possibility to use both springs in parallel. Customers convince themselves with the supplied selection diagram that the valve is the right size and depending on the operating point select one of the two springs or both springs from the overview table (see also here: http://seitenkanalverdichter-technik.de/produkt/begrenzungsventile/) ,
* Remove the two plastic caps
* Attach the valve to the pressure bypass and connect a pressure gauge.
* Loosen the screw 923 (description enclosed) and reduce the spring pressure on the upper adjusting screw with the adjusting key supplied.
* Turn on the fan and create the maximum pressure.
* Adjust the upper adjusting screw until the maximum permissible pressure is reached (observe manufacturer’s instructions).
* Fix the screw 923.
* Opening the pressure channel.
* Carefully check the settings.

The side channel blower / vacuum pumps of SKVTechnik are devices for the generation of vacuum or overpressure and the transport in continuous operation of air and non-explosive, non-flammable, non-toxic, non-corrosive technical gases in not
explosive atmosphere. Side channel compressors in so-called ATEX equipment are also sold.
The side channel blower / vacuum pumps from SKVTechnik have been developed and designed for use in industrial plants and are equipped with two-pole single- or three-phase asynchronous motors according to IEC 60034-1.

Usage requirements:
Any misused use of SKVTech side channel blowers can cause serious accidents and injuries.
Each user should study the operating instructions and implement the instructions given in their operating conditions prior to commissioning and at regular intervals.
Any intervention on the machine requires the study and understanding of the operating instructions for the side channel compressors.
Operating conditions:

The side channel blower should be protected from direct sunlight when installed outdoors. The maximum permissible pressure differences given in the table „TECHNICAL DATA“ must not be exceeded. They only apply under the following conditions:

Printing:
Intake temperature of the gas 20 ° C and atmospheric pressure of 1013 mbar when measured at the intake manifold.
Vacuum operation:
Intake temperature of the gas 20 ° C and atmospheric back pressure of 1013 mbar when measured at the intake manifold.
The ambient temperature and the intake temperature of the transported gas shall be between -15 ° C (+5 ° F) +40 ° C (+104 ° F), taking into account the following:

– At ambient temperature +30 ° C (+86 ° F), reduce the maximum pressure differences specified in the „SPECIFICATIONS“ table by 5%

– At ambient temperature +40 ° C (+104 ° F), reduce the maximum pressure differences specified in the „SPECIFICATIONS“ table by 10%

It should be noted that the device must not be installed above 1000 m above sea level. Users should contact SKVTechnik customer service at higher altitudes.
