Test EnOcean Link Middleware free of charge

OEMs can now download a test version of the energy harvesting wireless technology middleware at the EnOcean website, for free.

Oberhaching/Munich, May 14, 2013 – EnOcean, the worldwide leader in energy harvesting wireless, is now offering the EnOcean Link middleware as a test version, free of charge. Manufacturers (OEMs) can test the basic functions of the software according to their own specific needs, before deciding to buy the full licence. By offering this service, EnOcean is allowing its customers more flexibility while they develop their products and applications based on energy harvesting wireless technology. The free EnOcean Link Trial test version can be downloaded at http://www.enocean.com/en/enocean-software/.

EnOcean has recently expanded its software portfolio with the EnOcean Link middleware. OEMs can use this solution in order to integrate batteryless wireless technology directly into different applications and networks, regardless of the communication standard they use. OEMs can save valuable resources by not having to program specific software on their own in order to interpret EnOcean telegrams. EnOcean Link is available as source code, so OEMs can adapt the solution and conduct cross-compilations. The free test version of EnOcean Link Trial, available now, offers a small selection of application profiles as well as instructions, for testing the basic functionality of the software.

„EnOcean Link is a great idea. If we had had to develop our own solution here at the Schönaich facility, we would have had to invest a lot more time. With this trial version, we could also evaluate the operating mode of this software for future solutions, before using the complete licensed version“, says Wolfgang Schmieder, Environmental and Combustion Controls, Honeywell GmbH.

EnOcean Link converts received EnOcean telegrams directly into readable data values. In doing so, the middleware automatically takes into account all specific qualities of energy harvesting wireless technology and prepares them as ready to use. For example, for the presentation of temperature on a mobile device, for set point adaption, for cloud services or for the control of a smart home system. Contrary to the trial version, the complete version is made up of all application profiles for batteryless wireless technology (EnOcean Equipment Profiles, EEPs) and offers data encryption as well as remote management.
